I'd been wanting to try a still life subject in scratchboard for a while and this abandoned mining hut in Girdwood, Alaska was the perfect chanllenge - lots of interesting textures but my favourite part was recreating the feel of grubby, unwashed window panes and cobwebs!
Titled so because looking outside this window, you would see the seasons coming and going, life and outside elements constantly changing. Meanwhile inside the hut, nothing changes apart from the collection of dust and cobwebs, life came to a standstill here long ago and the items that remain have become a relic of a time almost forgotten. There is a stillness within.
Original scratchboard 12" x 16" scratchboard panel. This piece has been finished in a black float frame without glass (35 x 45 cm). The art panel has been sprayed with several coats of U.V resistant, non-yellowing, archival quality varnish to help preserve and protect the clay surface.
If required, the artwork can safely be dusted with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid contact with anything that may scratch the surface.
