I created this piece as part of my major project for my Natural History Illustration degree. Our local critically endangered plant, the North Rothbury Persoonia (Persoonia pauciflora) was my inspiration for this botanical plate. To add a sense of place and a hint of the incredibly restricted area in which they grow, I pencilled in a map of the area behind the main painting.
As the plant itself is quite a lime green, this watercolour and pencil work is a subtle piece, best viewed at relatively close range.
The artwork is 32 x 37 cm and framed, it is 58 x 63 cm. It is matted in a natural timber frame with conventional glass.
