'Grizzly stare' recently received 1st prize in the Figurative section of the 2024 Dobell Festival of Art and Crafts.
 
This grizzly portrait was inspired by the breathtaking encounter we had at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center with their beautiful rescue bears. We spent a long time watching them play fight in the water before this magnificent animal came right up to the fence to observe his observers. For relatively small eyes, they pack an intense stare!
 
18 x 24 inch scratchboard, sprayed with several coats of U.V resistant, archival quality, non-yellowing varnish. This scratchboard comes ready to hang in a thick, heavy black timber frame without glass (76 wide x 61 cm high).
